MASK-DISTANCE REQUIRED AT HOME
Patients should be effectively isolated in the home, the use of common areas should be minimized, appropriate masks should be used in these areas, care should be taken for hand hygiene and the items used should preferably belong to individuals, and they should provide appropriate cleaning in common products. Wearing a mask when other non-sick members of the household are together is very important in reducing domestic contamination. Houses should be ventilated at frequent intervals, and appropriate surface disinfection measures should be taken in house cleaning. It will be protective if the households adapt to a distance of 2 meters.
WHICH SYMPTOMS ARE SEEN?
The findings of CovId-19 in children are similar to those in adults; Symptoms such as fever, cough, difficulty in breathing, weakness, muscle aches, sore throat, abdominal pain and diarrhea are observed. Abdominal pain and diarrhea can occur without respiratory symptoms.
WHAT SHOULD NURSING MOMS DO?
Especially the fear that mothers who are sick will infect their children puts an additional emotional burden. Breastfeeding mothers can breastfeed their babies by wearing a mask and washing their hands before each breastfeeding if their health conditions are suitable. It will be appropriate for them to reduce their contact with the baby as much as possible during the illness and to ventilate the room they are in frequently.
HOW IS IT TREATED?
In general, supportive medications are started for the complaints we call symptomatic treatments in children in mild and moderate illnesses. It is important to meet the rest and increased fluid needs. According to the complaint, drugs such as antipyretic-pain reliever, ocean water, probiotic supplements can be used in nasal congestion. However, in case of severe illness or worsening of the disease while he is going well, the child should be followed up and treated in the hospital.
ATTENTION TO MIS-C DISEASE!
In children exposed to Sars CoV-2 virus, MIS-C, namely “Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome” may be seen due to the virus triggering the immune system. It is a serious disease that needs to be treated quickly by making a definitive diagnosis as a result of some tests in the hospital. In case of some symptoms such as resistant fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache and respiratory distress, a health institution should be consulted immediately.
