The scientific study on the ‘Immune Response of SARS CoV-2 Inactive (Sinovac-Coronavac) Vaccine’ conducted by the academic staff of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Public Health and Medical Microbiology of Manisa CBU Faculty of Medicine has been completed.

FIRST COMPREHENSIVE Researches IN TURKEY

The study is one of the first comprehensive studies made in Turkey said the CBE Manisa School of Medicine Department of Medical Microbiology Prof. Dr. Sinem Akçalı used the following statements;

* For this reason, we chose kits that can give us numerical value to investigate vaccine antibody levels. We did our research from blood collected from healthcare professionals.

* However, we also studied blood collected from vaccinated individuals with another test, which we call another neutralization test, to see if these antibodies we will detect are also antibodies called neutralizing antibodies that prevent the entry of the virus into the cell that will protect people from getting sick with Covid-19.

* Later, we evaluated both test results based on the values ​​we found. This work was recognized as one of the results of the first comprehensive study released in Turkey.

“ANTIBODY DEVELOPMENT RATE INCREASED TO MORE THAN 97 PERCENT”

Stating that a thousand 53 health workers participated in the study, Manisa CBÜ Infectious Diseases Department. Teacher Member Şebnem Şenol Akar said the following;

* In the beginning, 533 people who had no previous illness and who had negative antibodies participated in our study. We proved with the antibody tests we performed that one thousand 53 people did not have the disease first.

* After the first vaccine, we received blood before the second vaccine. We determined the antibody levels in this blood draw. We collected our second blood at least 28 days after the second vaccination. In this case, we collected our blood from more than 900 healthcare workers after the first vaccination and from 771 healthcare workers 28 days after the second vaccination.

* One of the important situations that we saw at the end of the study was that the results of the antibody we looked at with the neutralizing antibody and titer were consistent. After the first vaccine, the antibody development rate remained at 25 percent.

* After the second vaccine, the antibody development rate increased to over 97 percent. This means that there is not enough immunity after the first vaccine, and after the second vaccine, we have established immunity in a large part of society.

99 PERCENT OF WOMEN

Stating that a higher rate of antibody development in women stands out, Akar said, “Although the antibody development rate is sufficient and significant in both genders, it is true that we found a slightly higher antibody level in women. There was an antibody development rate of 97 percent in men and 99 percent in women.

This rate may differ somewhat by gender. It would be more correct to say whether this is definitely related to gender when statistical sub-evaluations are completed. The thing we need to emphasize here is that one dose of vaccine will never be enough, it is absolutely necessary to take the second dose, and it is very important that we say that protection can be created in this way ”.

ATTENTION IS TAKEN TO PERSONAL PROTECTION

Pointing out that even if vaccinated, mask, distance, and hygiene rules should not be spaced, Akar said, “The high antibody levels we have shown in our study do not mean that they will be 100 percent protected from the disease. We definitely need to continue our personal protection measures without interruption. It is absolutely necessary to pay attention to the use of masks and personal distance rules. We need to draw attention to important issues such as protection from closed environments and not taking off our mask in such environments, ”he said.

“IT IS MUCH SAFER TO GET VACCINATED WITHOUT THE DISEASE”

Stating that side effects are also followed in order to reduce hesitations, Akar said, “It is much safer to be vaccinated than to have the disease. In order to reduce hesitations, we closely monitored the side effects of this study. We observed that the side effects were extremely low. In particular, we observed that less than 25 percent had only a few side effects such as pain at the injection site or headache. We observed that less than 1 percent of side effects were severe enough to require hospital admission. This is important evidence showing that the vaccine is extremely safe.
