WHO: Health Situation in Palestine Alarming. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), explained that the health situation in Palestine is alarming.
At a press conference, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that the health situation in Palestine is alarming.
“The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned that the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and Israel could expose an uncontrollable security and humanitarian crisis. The state of health is also of extreme concern. “Dozens of incidents involving health workers and health facilities have occurred in recent escalating conflicts,” he said.
ATTENTION TO HEALTHCARE INSTITUTIONS
Stating that Covid-19 testing and vaccination were seriously affected, Ghebreyesus said, “This poses health risks for the world as a whole. The protection of healthcare professionals and healthcare facilities is an obligation under all circumstances ”.
Stating that international humanitarian law norms should be fully respected, Ghebreyesus said, “Especially healthcare professionals and infrastructure should always be protected. I call on leaders for all these issues, ”he said.
ISRAEL TARGETS HEALTH INFRASTRUCTURE
Stating that two doctors were killed in the Israeli attacks, Deputy Minister of Health in Gaza Yusuf Abu Riş stated that “Israeli warplanes targeted health centers, ambulances, orphanages, prayer areas and hospital roads in order to prevent the treatment of the wounded” and stated that the health infrastructure was damaged.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health had announced that the number of people who lost their lives in Israel’s attacks on Gaza rose to 200 and the number of injured to 305.
